Buckwheat with a Kick |
The dish started out with a bunch of sautéed veggies (onions, tomatoes, and the like). Then I added the spices: 5 generous table spoons of different pepper based spices. Then came the beans, buckwheat, and water. I ended up having to add 2.5 times as much water as I had thought would be needed. I guess all the dry ingredients were just absorbing all the water.
In the end we enjoyed the dish enough. It's not one of the favorites that I've made so far, but I wouldn't go as far as calling it a failure. The name change definitely helped. As a chili, meat was missed; as a buckwheat dish it's better.
